While sin may be fun for a season, it always results in death!
There is no escape from the penalty of sin.
The second aspect of our problem is that this sin which we have all
chosen to embrace requires a payment. The payment, or penalty, for
sin is death.
Death: For the wages of sin is death;
(Romans 6:23)
Since we are all sinners both by nature and by choice, we will have to
face death. In the Bible death always involves a separation of some
sort - separation from the body (physical death) and separation from God
(spiritual death). God's Word describes three types of death.
Spiritual: And you hath he quickened, who
were dead in trespasses and sins. (Ephesians
2:1)
Physical: And as it is appointed unto men
once to die, but after this the judgment. (Hebrews
9:27)
Eternal: And whosoever was not found
written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation
20:15)
The image above shows that the penalty of sin, death, separates man
from God - physically, spiritually, and perhaps eternally. The next
page shows that the final judgment awaits for those who face this
penalty alone. |
