Recalling John Milton's epic work, "Paradise was lost."
God's original design for man was corrupted by sin as man chose to disobey
God and follow his own designs.
This perfect relationship that man shared with God was destroyed when
man exercised his free will and chose to disobey God (Genesis
3:6). Since that fateful day such a long time ago when Adam
and Eve chose to disobey God, every man has followed the same route and
chosen to sin against God. In fact, because of the choices that man
has made, there exists a three-fold problem that must be overcome.
The first aspect of our problem is that sin separates us from God.
Sin: For all have sinned, and come short
of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)
We all sin by choosing to do what we want to do when God has commanded
us either to do or not to do something else. In short it is the
breaking of God's law (1 John 3:4).
The image above shows that sin drives a wedge between man and God, and
that all men are sinners by choice. The next
page shows that this sin we all are guilty of carries with it a
penalty. |
