In the beginning God created us to serve Him, to honor Him, and to have
fellowship with Him.
God's purpose in creation was to bring glory to Himself. Nature
brings great glory to God (Psalm 19:1), as
do the angels (Isaiah 6:2-3), but there is
something unique about the creation of man. Man was created in the
image of God (Genesis 1:27) and initially
enjoyed a special relationship with God in the Garden of Eden.
Because of this unique position, man can glorify God in several different
manners including:
Giving Honor: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to
receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and
for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation
4:11)
Voluntary Service: Whether therefore ye
eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
(1 Corinthians 10:31)
Willing Fellowship: Thou wilt shew me the
path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there
are pleasures for evermore. ( Psalm
16:11)
The image above shows that in the beginning God and man walked together
in close fellowship as man honored and served God. The next
page shows what happened to destroy this perfect relationship. |
